ThinkLabs AI Raises Million to Solve Power Grid Crisis with Physics-Informed AI

AI Meets Critical Infrastructure

In a significant escalation of AI investment beyond software and content generation, ThinkLabs AI has closed a million Series A financing round to apply artificial intelligence to the electrical grid.

The round was led by Energy Impact Partners (EIP), with participation from Nvidia NVentures, Edison International, and other strategic investors including GE Vernova and Powerhouse Ventures.

The Power Grid Challenge

U.S. electricity demand is projected to grow 25 percent by 2030, driven largely by AI data centers, electrified transportation, and electrification. This surge is colliding with a grid engineered decades ago for different demands.

When utilities need to understand grid impacts from new data centers or EV charger clusters, engineers must run power flow simulations traditionally taking weeks or months using legacy software.

ThinkLabs Revolutionary Approach

ThinkLabs replaces this bottleneck with physics-informed AI models. Key claims: compress month-long grid studies into under 3 minutes, run 10 million scenarios in 10 minutes, maintain 99.7 percent accuracy.

We are not hallucinating the heck out of things, CEO Josh Wong told VentureBeat. We are talking about engineering calculations here. We do have a source of truth from existing physics-based engineering models.

Real-World Results with Edison International

ThinkLabs collaboration with Southern California Edison demonstrated: trained AI models in minutes per circuit, processed a full year of hourly power-flow data in under 3 minutes across 100+ circuits, produced engineering reports in under 90 seconds – work previously requiring 30 to 35 days.

Strategic Nvidia Partnership

ThinkLabs works extensively within the Nvidia ecosystem, leveraging CUDA for GPU-accelerated computation and integrating Nvidia Earth-2 climate simulation platform.

Accelerating Adoption

Despite utilities being traditionally conservative buyers, ThinkLabs reports sales cycles compressing from 1-2 years to just 2-3 months. The company now works with 10+ utilities and doubled customer accounts in Q1 2026 alone.

As AI continues into physical infrastructure, ThinkLabs represents how artificial intelligence can address pressing challenges through rigorous, physics-informed computation at unprecedented scale.
