Anthropic Unveils Project Glasswing: A Dangerous AI Model Too Powerful to Release

Anthropic has unveiled Project Glasswing—a dangerous AI model so powerful it wont be released publicly. The initiative pairs an unreleased frontier AI model with major tech companies to find zero-day vulnerabilities before adversaries exploit them.

Claude Mythos Preview has identified thousands of high-severity zero-day vulnerabilities in every major OS and browser. “We do not plan to make Claude Mythos Preview generally available due to its cybersecurity capabilities,” said Newton Cheng of Anthropic. “Given the rate of AI progress, it will not be long before such capabilities proliferate.”

Technical Results

Mythos Preview found a 27-year-old OpenBSD vulnerability, a 16-year-old FFmpeg flaw, and Linux kernel exploits—all patched. Partners include AWS, Apple, Cisco, CrowdStrike, Google, Microsoft, Nvidia, and the Linux Foundation. Anthropic commits million in credits and million to open-source security.

Benchmarks

Mythos scored 83.1% on CyberGym vs 66.6% for Claude Opus 4.6. On SWE-bench Verified: 93.9% vs 80.8%.

Project Glasswing gives defenders a head start—but no one organization can solve cybersecurity alone.
